I like being a druid or having one around for their spells. Some of which are such a waste in a non-natural setting, like Call Lightning if the game is classic and won't let you call lightning indoors; but Insect Swarm and Storm of Vengeance are worth a lot against evil mages and dragons. I've put up with a lot of complaining from Jaheira just for the insect swarm which renders magic users helpless. BG-SOA doesn't have Storm of Vengeance which is really too good, in one NW mod I single-handedly killed about 10 dragons with 2 storms. However, it's the animal world thing that really sets druids apart. I'd like a druid-saves-animal life plot with many dilemmas, animals vs. other species, and some way of finding the "balance" druids always claim they want. But "balance" isn't always winning, it's "everyone wins part of the time."

Besides the change of the lifeform I'd more like to have Druids as sort of a cult or guild in a game that you first would have to convince of your deeds and your mission before they open up to you. In real life little to nothing is known about these sort of people so it might be nice to put some sort of story around them.

Once you have their attention and respect maybe they could be integrated into the game by teaching the player some special abilities that could be usefull in fights but would force the player to sacrifice something in return for the powers used, for instance some magical skill that require you to get rid of some of your strenght. That would force the player to do a decision before the ability can be learned.

Yeah, I like the somewhat exclusive quality of druids. Like clerics, they are set apart. But maybe druids even more so. Many clerics do some studying or join orders or whatnot to prove themselves, but druids are naturally that way. I have to take back what I said about SOA, there is a Storm of Vengeance. If you take the XP cap off and let the characters advance by D&D rules. It doesn't seem as powerful as it was in NWN, but maybe it's partly the graphics.

Apropo of nothing, bards are the lamest class. Druids, with a bit of tweaking can be pulled off convincingly, but bards are the one class I would happily never play.

To me, the most important class is Rogue/Sneak, and if I had to play without a class it would be Mage.

I've played a million games as a warrior and I always become a rogue warrior if possible, but otherwise I *have to have* a rogue in my party. I want in those locks, I want behind those doors, I insist on stealing your shit, and ooh... what's this in your pocket? It's mine now. Add in conversation elements, like persuasion, and rogue is 100% up my alley. The reason I choose warrior first and become as rogue as possible is for the heavy armor and weapons, but in many games I choose rogue first depending on how the game plays, my mood at the time, and whether or not I can become roguelike later. Also it depends on how long I have to wait until I get roguelike abilities or can have a rogue in my party. If I have to miss a single chest, especially if I can never get back to it later in the game... grrr... I'm switching to rogue.

The only game I obsessively played a druid, or even really wanted to play a druid, was Diablo 2. I always played the werewolf melee and made my druid's badass at both pvm and pvp.
Druids are cool though, just not typically something I play.

TH won't have druids, but you will probably able to play something like a rogue. :)

Glad to hear of it, I always love playing as a rogue (sneaking unseen, the thrill of breaking the law and never get caught  )... ;)
