Greenlight

Postby DrHoo » Wed Feb 13, 2013 12:10 am

Steam's Greenlight venue is a popular place now to show off new offerings and game concepts for feedback. We've put Tortured Hearts up in the Concepts section today. Please give it a look and support it with your vote! Thanks.

Better link to Greenlight:

There is a comment there about the looks of the character model. The man and horse are prototypes. Their looks can be changed because right now they are one of a kind. If you have something to say about the style, now's the time to speak up! There's a related thread on this forum, the Effect of Graphics. The environment look is harder to change, there's more of it. Thanks.

Looking at the new video and the screenshot it feels as if the game is going to be something special, it give's the game something unique. Plus it might make the people make feel a bit more warm and welcome when playing the game. After all that's what the graphic of this style mostly do for me.

The horse looks candy for me. Very sweet, sort of a true, faithfull but maybe at times a little bit slow follower of the hero. The hero himself looks a bit funny with his big, red nose. I would love to see more detailed expression in his face showing something of his fate he is currently in plus nicer ears and a different haircut. His hands shoudl be a bit smaller. Anyway, still a great first overview on the look of the game.

Good question. It goes into the direction of "where do people first hear about new games?". Steam for sure is a place where many gamers do look out for new software since many have the software on their PC so they might even look over to Greenlight to check out about upcoming games.

As for me, I'm still a very old-school guy. I do mostly take a look inside online magazines / forums or even printed stuff. There are also some free games magazines in shops here in germany. These do often give also a little insight on which new games are up on the horizon. Plus I do often talk to friends about what they like and what they think might be cool. So for me personally Greenlight isn't the first choice.

I wonder how many hardcore RPG players there are on Greenlight.

I put hours upon hours into games and have for years. If anyone can be labeled 'gamer' I definitely fit the bill. I am not, however, one of those guys who play one online game at a time hitting it 'hardcore' and streaming it the whole time. I like my variety and I love my single player, a lot about the way I play is old-fashioned to many present-day gamers. Now a days, I make more time for my daughter and don't play games like I used to, but between work and her and other life events, I still manage to put a good amount of time into games, and when I am of the mood I flip through posts on boards, just like I flip through games on greenlight. Always searching for games worthy of coming to Steam, but usually finding myself disappointed by the selection. I know I'm not the only one. I up-voted TH back when you made your appearance on LucidMagic, Zoltan. I check the page occasionally, too.
